KERATIN FAQ:

Q. Is this treatment a relaxer?
A. No, Keratin Hair Treatments soften and tame the hair.  It is not a chemcial straightener, for a dead straight result we advise you book in for a chemical straightening treatment.

Q. Can this treatment be applied on any hair type?
A. Yes, this treatment suits ANY hair type, and ANY previous chemical treatment [coloured, highlighted, relaxed, bleached or virgin hair]. ALL HAIR TYPES.  Results may vary slightly on very rebelious/curly hair.

Q. How long is the application process?
A. The application process takes 2-3 hours depending on the length/thickness of the hair.

Q. Does keratin affect my colour?
A. Yes, the keratin treatment may remove the toner and lighten some hair types, so you may need to re-tone your hair after 3 days of having the treatment.  We recommend to colour your hair AFTER having the keratin treatment [3days].  Our keratin retail range includes a purple tonal shampoo for home use.  Prior to your salon colour service ensure your hair has been shampood twice consecutively.

Q. Can I wash my hair right after the treatment?
A. No, only wash your hair 24 hours after the treatment, and do not manipulate the hair in any way by tying it back or applying products or water.

Q. Can I use styling products during the first 24 hours?
A. Styling products can be used AFTER the first wash [24 hours after the treatment]

Q. Can I get the treatment done while pregnant or nursing?
A. We recommend you consult with your physician.

Q. What is the difference between chemical straightenings and Keratin Hair Treatments?
A. Keratin Treatments are a Keratin based treatment that TAMES the hair naturally without strong chemicals. It is a re-conditioning treatment that transforms the hair and restores shine. Chemical straighteners work on breaking and rearranging the internal bonds of the hair, producing a dead straight result.

Q. Does it guarantee a straight result?
A. Some clients may still have a wave but hair is much more manageable after treatment and reduces the amount of time required to style hair dramatically.

Q. Are touch ups recommended?
A. Treatments should be repeated every 3 to 4 months on the entire head.

Q. Why do I have to wait to wash my hair?
A. We recommend that you wait because it takes 24 hours for the Keratin to seal into the hair cuticle. If the hair is washed right after the treatment, the keratin will be washed out.

Q. How long does the treatment last?
A. The treatment lasts up to 4 months depending on the hair type and maintenance. The treatment will work better on chemically treated hair.

Q. Can I go into the ocean or the pool after the treatment?
A. Do not go into the ocean or pool during the first 24 hours. After that you may swim, however apply Keratin Conditioning Mask to your hair before you enter the water and rinse well afterwards before shampooing.

Q. What shampoo and conditioner do I use after the treatment?
A. We stock and recommend a sulphate-free Keratin shampoo and conditioner.
