A Cut Above the Rest – Rubi Hair Melbourne

A Cut Above the Rest – Rubi Hair Melbourne

Hair salons in Melbourne are almost like 7-Elevens – they’re everywhere and it can be hard to stand out. Since moving to Melbourne it’s been a hard task trying to decide between the hundreds of hair salons so that’s why I was so excited to have the opportunity to go into Rubi Hair in Richmond.

Rubi Hair has three salons throughout Melbourne – one in Richmond, Windsor and Malvern. With an abundance of highly experienced staff and a range of different services on offer, I was looking forward to popping in for some much needed hair maintenance. Check out their Instagram page to see some of their amazing work!

The Richmond salon is super cute and sleek looking on the inside and sits right on the busy Swan Street. I was looked after by the lovely Michelle (director and principle stylist) and Liv (advanced stylist) who were both just incredible! They made me feel so comfortable and knew exactly what it was that I was after.

I had a balayage and style and couldn’t be happier with the results! I love how it came out and am loving my new hair.

I really couldn’t recommend Rubi Hair more. The staff are so lovely and welcoming as well as incredible at what they do.

Thank you to Rubi Hair for an amazing salon experience!

Hair Rehab with Rubi Hair

Hair Rehab with Rubi Hair

Originally published on Almost Famaus in FASHION & BEAUTY, FEATURED on 02/08/18

I recently visited my favourites at Rubi Hair Richmond for a much needed cut, colour and some TLC for my hair after six months of having extensions in. I loved my extensions – they were tape if anyone is curious – and in all honesty don’t feel like they did a crazy amount of damage to my hair – my fears of clumps of hair falling out didn’t come true – but after you take those long locks out you notice more than ever before how thin your own hair is. Well mine anyway!

I’ve always had thin hair and I’m always looking for the best way to keep it healthy and as thick as possible, which is something the Rubi Hair team have been great at helping me with over the years. On this visit I was looked after by Liv, who gave me a gorgeous colour to brighten me up for the cooler months, with an Olaplex treatment through it, which always leaves my hair feeling stronger after a colour. She also gave me a much needed chop! I hadn’t had so much as a trim since my extensions first went in six months earlier – yikes!

As she worked away I picked her brain on hair health, and how I could best bring some life and body back into my hair after months of having a little ‘help’, especially in these colder months when you’ve got the heat turned up and your poor locks get a little dried out.

What are you hair care tips for winter?

“Keeping on top of treatments in your hair during winter is vital when coming to maintaining the condition of your hair. With the change of seasons its common that your hair can become dry. I would recommend doing a treatment at least once a week, or if you’re time poor using a little treatment in replacement of conditioner every time you wash your hair.”

I’m giving my hair a rest from extensions and want to focus on amazing treatments so help strengthen and grow my hair, what do you recommend?

“There’s an incredible new product by Kerastase called the Extentioniste, which for $470 over a 12 week program includes;

3 x In Salon Extentioniste Treatments

3 x Blowwaves

1 x Bain Extentioniste

1 x Fondante Extentioniste / Masque Extentioniste

1 x Serum Extentioniste

1 x Serum Therapist

This program promises up to 4cm of growth in 3 months.”

Where do I sign up!? Rubi Hair are currently GIVING AWAY one of these incredible treatment packages! Head to their instagram to learn more.

Rubi Hair has been awarded Gold Status from Salon Select

Rubi Hair has been awarded Gold Status from Salon Select

Here is the criteria for achieving Gold Status from the Australian Hairdressing Council:

5 Star Gold Salon Select Program

To achieve AHC Gold salon select accreditation, your salon will have already achieved Silver salon select accreditation and an advanced professional standard of administration and marketing. The on-line AHC self assessment checklist allows you to check off what you do have in place and source the things you don’t

Your Facilitator

Each AHC salon select salon owner is allocated an AHC facilitator who will help you through your on-line self assessment and guide you to implement any new systems you may need. Your facilitator will be in touch walk you through the steps for your accreditation. You can read about the AHC salon facilitators here.

Your Mystery Shopper Report

Following the completion of your on-line self assessment, your AHC facilitator will organise your mystery shopper visit. They will provide you with the brief your mystery shopper will receive so that you can tell your team what to expect from their visit. Each question the mystery shopper will be asked, will be available to you before their visit so your team will be ready. The mystery shopper will present an AHC voucher to you at the end of the visit.

The mystery shopper will complete a questionnaire and your facilitator will prepare a report to discuss with you. This report will provide any recommendations or suggestions that may assist you in improving your salon performance and is a great tool for team training.

Gold Salon Select Accreditation

Your AHC facilitator will confirm your successful accreditation once all areas of the Gold program are in place in your salon.

Your accreditation will entitle you to display your AHC salon select Gold certificate and your salon will have the 5 star Gold salon select decal to place on your window.

Nikki’s ‘Raw’ Collection gets the cover of Iridescent Magazine

Nikki's 'Raw' Collection gets the cover of Iridescent Magazine

Nikki from our Windsor salon, (but now heading up our Malvern salon) with assistance from other Rubi Hair staff – Sarah, Claire, Tess & Kylie, not only had her collection called ‘Raw’ featured in the April 2015 edition of ‘Iridescent’ Magazine, but one of her shots was the front cover.

Nikki based her collection on her travels to parts of South America in 2013.  The rawness and earthy tones, along with the organic, unstructured way of life, provided the core idea to build upon for this collection.

Iridescent magazine features contributions from all around the world.  It acts as a platform for sharing the best work from aspiring professionals within the beauty industry to expand their network and exposure.

Congratulations to Nikki and all involved – we think it looks sensational!
